PARTNER spotlight: Solo Coffee
From the moment that Hannah and Ryan Hill reached out to Deeper Roots in early 2023, it was clear that they had every intention of providing excellent coffee and memorable experiences to their clients. Their coffee cart business, Solo Coffee, hits the mark in every way – from the quality of the drinks they are serving to the curated services that they provide. Beginning with a single mobile coffee cart in 2023 and growing to now include 3 carts outfitted with La Marzocco espresso machines and Mahlkonig grinders, they can do the impossible – serve up amazing coffee in many places all at once. “Can you tell us the story behind your business — how it started and what inspired you to open?”
I’ve been in the coffee industry for over 10 years, which still feels a little surreal to say. In 2021, Ryan’s job took us out to California, and while we were there, I had the opportunity to work at a local coffee shop that I absolutely loved. During that time, we were also expecting our son, Skye, and I continued working up until he was born. That year, we became regulars at a little walk-up window coffee shop. You’d place your order, stand and chat while they made your drink, and it created such a simple yet personal experience. We loved how approachable it felt — almost like a soft entry point into the coffee world, without the formality of a full café. When we eventually moved back to Cincinnati, I was so grateful for the chance to stay home with Skye, but I also found myself missing coffee — not just the drinks, but the community around it. That’s when the idea hit: what if I created a mobile coffee bar? As I started researching, I realized coffee carts exist all around the world. So, I took the leap and officially launched in May of 2023.
“What is your approach to coffee with Solo Coffee and what role does it play in your business?”
Our goal is for everyone to enjoy not just the quality of our coffee, but the experience that comes with it. We believe your drink should taste every bit as good as the service you receive. We take care in every detail — from the way we dial in our espresso to the way we connect with our customers. We want people to feel as if they’ve stepped into their favorite coffee shop, even when they’re at our cart. Nothing about it should feel cheap or rushed. Instead, we aim to deliver a high-quality experience alongside every high-quality coffee or tea. We are thankful for the way Deeper Roots cares about coffee.
“What’s one thing you want customers to experience or feel when they are served from a Solo Coffee cart?”
At our coffee cart, we want every customer to feel truly seen. When someone steps up to order, our goal is to make them feel like they’re the only person there — even if there’s a line behind them. Each interaction is a chance for us to offer kindness, connection, and hopefully one of the best coffees they’ve ever had. For us, it’s not just about serving a drink, but about creating a moment that feels personal and memorable.
“What excites you most about the future of your business?”
We’re so excited to share that we recently brought on our first full-time team member, joining Ryan and I on this journey. Growing our team means we can continue expanding — adding more carts, serving at more events, and creating even more unforgettable experiences along the way. We’re beyond grateful for the support we’ve received so far. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where it goes from here!
