PARTNER spotlight: 513 Coffee
513 Coffee opened its doors in Covington, KY Just a couple of months ago,
and we’re thrilled to partner with such a quality-driven, hospitality-focused team. Owner Rebecca Riegelsberger has a genuine passion for community and set out to create a true third space for the Covington neighborhood. Their location makes that vision easy to realize—nestled between busy Pike Street and a cozy residential stretch of the city. One of the shop’s most memorable features is its walk-up window on the neighborhood-facing side of the building, offering nearby residents a quick and convenient way to grab a cup just steps from home. Outfitted with a La Marzocco Linea PB, 513 Coffee is serving some of the best drinks in Northern Kentucky. Their menu is simple yet creative, with something for everyone—from espresso and black-coffee purists to anyone seeking a thoughtfully crafted sweet drink. We’re grateful to have 513 Coffee sharing our coffees, and we hope you’ll stop by, grab a cup, and meet the team! Here’s more from Becky herself!
“Can you tell us the story behind your business — how it started and what inspired you to open?”
Rebecca Riegelsberger – Owner – 513 Coffee
Probably about 12-13 years ago, I started visiting a coffee shop in Somerset, KY, and it quickly became a weekly ritual. I loved the sense of community, how I felt while I was there, and how much I looked forward to those solo visits.
Throughout my career and community work, many of my most meaningful conversations have happened in coffee shops. Those experiences helped me realize how many unique and memorable moments a coffee shop can create — and inspired me to bring that same experience to others.
“What is your approach to coffee & what menu items have been most popular so far?”
It was really important to me to offer high-quality coffee from a roaster that was like minded in values. We’re lucky to have many coffee shops in our community, but I think it’s somewhat rare to find all three qualities that make for a great coffee shop that, in my opinion can set you apart; to me those qualities are - good seating options, exceptional coffee, and at least a few of quality food items. With our smaller footprint, I wanted to set us apart by focusing on quality and intention. I also wanted to fully understand ethical sourcing and make sure our baristas valued it as one of our core principles. I absolutely love the Shantawene, and the positive feedback on its taste and quality has shown our customers love it as well.
“Your shop is connected to your other business, 513 Lagree. How would you say that impacts the identity of the space or how your guests interact with it? In what ways do they compliment each other?”
I bought the building last June to open my second Lagree studio, with the first located in Montgomery. As I explored the space, I kept coming back to my long-time vision for a coffee shop and realized the garage could be transformed into exactly that. While I firmly believe Lagree is the best workout, the real heart of a boutique fitness studio is the community it builds — and a coffee shop felt like a natural extension of that energy. I also wanted the shop to feel truly part of Covington, so the branding is a subtle variation of the 513 Lagree logo: connected, but still welcoming to everyone. The studio and coffee shop complement each other well, offering people a place to reset, connect, and lean into both physical and mental wellness. It’s incredibly rewarding to see people who met through Lagree stay after class to continue their conversations over coffee right next door.”
“What ROLE DOES HOSPITALITY PLAY AT 513 Coffee?”
Hospitality is incredibly important to me — both as a way to differentiate and because it’s at the heart of what I value. Even with so many great, friendly coffee shops around town, we want to focus on getting to know our customers and making them feel remembered. After just a month, it’s been wonderful to already have familiar faces and learn people’s names as they return to enjoy the space. Our tagline, your third place, is very intentional. We want people to genuinely feel that this can be their home away from home. That’s why we designed larger round tables and added as many outlets and USB ports as possible — small details that help people settle in, stay awhile, and feel comfortable in their third place.
“Your shop is located in the Covington neighborhood. What qualities attracted you to the Covington community?”
I initially chose Covington for my second Lagree studio because I saw a need for boutique fitness in an urban, easily accessible area. But I quickly fell in love with the community — the walkability, the proximity to both downtown and Northern Kentucky, and how welcoming the city is to new businesses. Even though I live in Symmes Township, I renovated an apartment above the studio and coffee shop and now spend many weekends in Covington. I’ve also purchased another building on the block, with plans for a rental unit and hopefully a new business next year. Covington has so much opportunity, and it’s become a community I truly want to invest in and continue pouring into.
