THE RETURN OF FALL TONIC
There's a particular kind of relief that comes every fall when the air shifts and the light gets a little softer. You know the feeling. Mornings seem worth lingering in. You want something in your cup that matches the mood of the season. Not a challenge, not a novelty, just something that's quietly excellent.
That's Fall Tonic.
What Is Fall Tonic?
Fall Tonic is Deeper Roots' fall seasonal blend, crafted to meet the specific sensory gravity of autumn. It's not a fall blend because of the label we designed or leaned into cinnamon vibes. It's a fall blend because the coffees inside it taste the way the season feels — warm, grounded, mild but not muted acidity, and more complexity than Summer Punch.
Built on a foundation of Tanzania and Guatemala, Fall Tonic is designed to be simultaneously approachable and interesting. The kind of coffee that works for someone just getting into specialty coffee and someone who's been cupping competitively for a decade. That balance isn't accidental. It's the whole point.
The Components:
Tanzania — Brightness, Fruit, and Floral
What you're tasting from the Tanzania component of Fall Tonic is the result of high-altitude growing conditions, careful post-harvest processing, and a consistency at origin that has only improved over the years we've worked in the region. Think dark fruit — in the blackberry and plum neighborhood — alongside a floral brightness that keeps the cup from ever getting heavy. There's a dessert-like quality to it, when coffee is picked at peak ripeness, the sugars in the fruit have developed perfectly to produce sweetness in the cup.
Guatemala — Structure and Balance.
The Guatemalan component in Fall Tonic comes from our partners at Finca San Jerónimo, the coffee in this blend is what we call an Estate Blend. It’s an all-purpose blend of coffees grown across their own property. A blend of some of the best coffees grown on the farm. Their estate blend carries a brown sugar-forward sweetness, a cocoa-tinged body, and a finish that tends toward dried fruit or mild citrus depending on the date off-roast and the brew method. It's the part of the blend that makes Fall Tonic feel complete.
Tasting Fall Tonic: What's in the Cup
Fall Tonic’s flavor profile begins with dark fruit and a florals from the Tanzania side. The aromatics are forward and inviting, especially if you're brewing hot and letting allowing ample bloom time.
On the palate, we’'ve developed this blend to feature brown sugar sweetness that settles into bittersweet chocolate and dried plum. There's a subtle citric brightness that keeps the sweetness from getting cloying. The finish is long and clean, with a lingering cocoa quality that makes you want another sip before the last one's done.
Every year this blend drops, we can’t get enough. Just like Autumn in the midwest, it’s short lived. But that makes it all the more enjoyable to savor.
How to Brew Fall Tonic at Home
Fall Tonic is versatile in the best way — we' love how it tastes when done using pourover, but it also tastes great when brewed as an espresso and even in Aeropress!

Pour Over (V60 or Chemex)
This is where Fall Tonic's aromatics shine hardest. A 1:14.75 ratio, water off boil at around 204°F, medium-fine grind. Bloom for 30 to 40 seconds, then pour slow and steady in concentric circles. The result emphasizes the floral and fruit notes from the Tanzania component and gives the finish plenty of room to develop. If you only brew it one way, do it this way first.
Drip / Batch Brew
Fall Tonic holds up beautifully in a home drip machine, especially if your machine brews at proper temperature (195–205°F). Medium grind, standard 1:15 ratio. This is the Tuesday morning version — reliable, rewarding, no drama. The sweetness stays front and center and the blend is forgiving enough that a small grind variation won't tank the cup.
French Press
For those who want the full body of Fall Tonic, the French press can deliver. Use a coarser grind, 1:15 ratio, and a four-minute steep before pressing slow. The oils that filter out in paper methods stay in the cup here, deepening the chocolate and making the mouthfeel richer.
Grab Fall Tonic Before It's Gone
