Whole Again

The sound of kids enjoying food together in a fun, camp-like setting is the hallmark of Whole Again at work. Serving  multiple sites throughout Greater Cincinnati, Whole Again is a nonprofit that’s been enriching lives since 2005. With a mission to feed and foster growth in at-risk youth, the organization blends healthy meals, academic stimulation, and fun fitness programming during summer months and beyond.

What started with just eight kids in 2005 has grown into a summer initiative serving over 1,000 children across 25+ locations. To date, Whole Again has served more than 600,000 meals to over 8,000 youth, helping to close food and opportunity gaps during summer breaks. Their signature Summer Food & Enrichment Program combines standardized USDA summer feeding with engaging exercise, arts, and learning activities.

In the bright summer sun of July, Whole Again hosts a lively celebration of health and movement called Fun to Be Fit Day. More than 400 youth from around the city convene at the MLB Cincinnati Reds Academy where volunteers lead games, supervise fitness stations, and rally enthusiasm. It’s a shining example of how Whole Again integrates a holistic vision of nutrition, movement, and hearty community-building activities.

Whole Again addresses food insecurity, academic lulls, and childhood obesity with intention and care. Their programs are free, accessible, and welcoming - no child is turned away. And they foster community partnerships with churches, cultural centers, schools, and foundations. With nourishing food, empowering activities, and a caring environment, Whole Again uplifts body and soul, helping children grow stronger, smarter, and happier.

It is humbling to partner with a local organization that has been meeting such foundational needs for the past twenty years. And it’s energizing to see kids being kids – eating healthily, playing together, learning life lessons, and growing in community.
