PNG Sigri Estate
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY GIVE BACK PARTNER - 2021
We called our “guy” for PNG. Did you know we had a guy? Well, we have a guy, and when we called him to ask how we could leverage our coffee community (you all) and the Community Giveback Program for the first half of 2021, he immediately knew who to call.
Our “guy”, in this case is an actual guy named Vikram from Benchmark Coffee Traders. He is one of our closest industry friends and has family that runs the Sigri Estate in PNG. It took no time at all for them to get back with us in how we could all partner with them for this year’s first Giveback Project. With the projected sales for Community Blend from January through June, a lot can be done for the local community surrounding the estate.
Just as a reminder, we take the total number of pounds of Community Blend sold during a time period, in this case January through June, and put $0.50/lb towards a project with an international partner and the same amount towards a project with a local parter. So every pound of Community Blend sold throws off $1 for community projects international and local.
So for this round all of you Community Blend drinkers are helping fund an ENTIRE new classroom for a school. And when we say classroom we truly mean the walls, rafters, desks and all. There will be thirty new desks complete with needed stationary, blackboards for the teachers and learning kits for each student. This will be an amazing project to help fund education in rural PNG and it’s truly all thanks to you, the coffee drinker.
