About this coffee

We're excited to kick off a fun exploration of some rare coffee cultivars from our partners of Finca San Jeronimo Miramar in Guatemala. First up in the Rare Breed Series is a brand new one for us (and most of the world), Manchamé. The name is a hat tip to the Guatemalan farmer who first cultivated this new hybrid. Most commonly known as Anacafe 14, it’s a very promising coffee for Guatemala as it’s both disease resistant and has wonderful quality.  It is a natural cross between Catimor and Pacamara so the beans are large and elongated.

This is the first of three cultivar micro-lots we'll be rolling out from Finca San Jeronimo Miramar this year, and with only 100lbs of each, you’ll want to make sure to try it early on if you’re hoping to enjoy all three.

About the Bressani Family  & Finca San Jeronimo Miramar

The Bressani family has operated the beautiful Finca San Jeronimo Miramar for over 100 years, and to just call it a coffee farm would be selling it short. Not only are some fantastic coffees being grown and cared for there, but also jersey dairy cows, honeybees, and exotic tropical fruits. Sitting high above all of this is a gorgeous, protected natural reserve and the forest is the lifeblood of the farm with its volcanic terrain feeding the farm’s natural fresh water springs and powers the farm’s entire processing facilities with hydroelectric power.

Our relationship with the Bressanis started back in 2013 on the grounds of Finca San Jeronimo. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of working directly with their farm and mill management team, helping them develop an understanding of coffee quality once it hits the cup and give them more purpose behind their already stellar experimentation, processes, and logistics operations. Because of this relationship, we continue to see improvements in quality each year and will be continuing to taste and share their latest experiments and variety selections from the wonderful farm.
